113th Annual Dinner at the Marina Del Rey on May 27 The DeWitt Clinton Alumni Association will pay tribute to this dedicated teacher. Noriberto “Bert” Blanco is retiring in June after giving more than 26 years of outstanding service to DeWitt Clinton High School, its students, alumni, and the entire Clinton community. As a teacher and as coordinator of student affairs, his accomplishments are legion. He favors no one and everyone as he emphasizes the Clinton way. His motto is: “By the time you graduate, you will bleed Red and Black.”Three different senior classes dedicated their yearbooks to him, the only faculty member ever to be so honored. At the 1991 graduation, he was awarded an honorary Clinton diploma. If you know Bert or know about him, you know that he deserves this honor...and deserves to have all alumni present at this event. The center will provide students with state of the art facilities for the study of business and finance. Robert Esnard, class of 1956 and involved in many Bronx undertakings, explained to the invited guests that the center was made possible by a generous grant from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation. Mr. Cantor, who passed away in 1996, was a 1934 graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School. After serving in the navy during World War II, he founded Cantor Fitzgerald, which developed into the leading international brokerage firm specializing in financial securities.
